We are so glad you are joining us this season. Paperwhites are easy to grow and will result in countless hours of enjoyment during cold winter months.

01.

Decide when you want your garden to bloom. Paperwhites typically take 4 to 6 weeks to bloom and typically bloom for 1 to 2 weeks.

02.

If you want blooms for Christmas, you should start your garden between Nov. 15 and Nov. 25. If you want blooms in early December, plant them as soon as you receive your kit.

03.

If you will be waiting to plant, please take the burlap bag of bulbs out of the cellophane bag and place the burlap bag in an airconditioned, dry place. No need to store in refridgerator.

To plant your garden:

1. Using the stones in the organza bag, make a layer in the lomey dish that is in your kit.

2. Place the paperwhite bulbs on top with the roots facing down and pointy sides up, anchoring them with stones. It is not unusual for paperwhites to begin to sprout while in storage with shoots 1-2 inches long. These will turn up around the bulbs. After the bulbs are placed on the stones, the shoots will turn in the correct direction over time.

3. Add water until the water reaches just below the base of the bulbs, but no higher. The bulbs will rot if the bulb sits in water.

4. Keep the water level just below the base of the bulbs as they grow, adding more as the water evaporates.

5. Place the dish in a bright, cool spot out of direct harsh sunlight.

6. Paperwhites grown indoors have a tendency to flop over. To ensure compact growth, once the bulbs have sprouted about 2 inches tall, begin replacing the water with 1 part vodka or gin with 7 parts water. Watering with this mix will ensure paperwhites only grow 1/3 to 1/2 typical height.
